VINO NOBILE DI MONTEPULCIANO Wine – (750 ml)
This Italian red wine typically displays a maroon-red hue that may evolve into a subtle brick-orange over time. Characterized by dark cherry and rich plum aromas, it offers ripe strawberry and cherry fruit flavors, with a gently tannic “tea-leaf” finish.
Known for its medium body, firm tannins, and balanced acidity, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is particularly age-worthy, with well-made examples improving significantly over one or two decades. Some have likened its perfume to Chianti Classico, while its richness echoes Brunello di Montalcino.

Description
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a renowned Tuscan red wine primarily crafted from the Sangiovese grape. Dating back to ancient Rome, Sangiovese quickly gained prominence in Tuscany. In 2004, DNA analysis revealed its parent grapes to be Ciliegiolo and Calabrese Montenuovo.
With a rich history as both a blending grape and a varietal wine, Sangiovese thrives in the town of Montepulciano, where winemaking dates back to the 8th century. The original blend for Nobile wine predominantly features Sangiovese grapes, with Cannaiolo typically completing the blend. By 1685, poet Francesco Redi acclaimed Montepulciano wine as “the king of all wines.”
